Men's boxing entered the Olympic Games in 1904, in St Louis. Women's boxing had to wait for London 2012, a hundred and eight years later, where Nicola Adams became the first Olympic champion in the history of the discipline. Since then women have made up a growing share of gym membership, and the sport's objects have moved out of the usual black and white. This blanket is one example: same motto, another colour.
What the visual shows
Plain black ground. NO BOXING NO LIFE fills the centre over three levels, in pink capitals with pronounced serifs, slightly distorted as on an old poster. Four five-pointed stars, also pink, punctuate the composition, and two diagonal strokes pass behind the lettering. White topstitching runs round the edge.
Choosing your size
Three sizes, given width by height: 125x100 cm / 49x39 in for an armchair or a sofa back, 150x125 cm / 59x49 in for a two-seat sofa, 200x150 cm / 79x59 in for a three-seat sofa or thrown across a double bed. The full match-up is set out in the collection's size guide.

Good to know
Wash cold with dark laundry and no fabric softener: the microfibre keeps its softness and the print its contrast. Low-heat tumble drying brings the loft back after several washes.

Frequently asked questions
What size blanket should I choose for a sofa?
150x125 cm / 59x49 in for a two-seat sofa, 200x150 cm / 79x59 in for a three-seat, 125x100 cm / 49x39 in for an armchair or a sofa back. The complete match-up is in the size guide.
When did women's boxing become Olympic?
In 2012, at the London Games, a hundred and eight years after men's boxing joined the programme in 1904. Britain's Nicola Adams took the first women's Olympic title.
Does the pink hold up in the wash?
Yes, the shade is in the fibre rather than laid on the surface. Wash cold with no bleach: detergents containing an optical brightener are the only ones likely to dull a bright pink.
What does No Boxing No Life mean?
No boxing, no life. The phrase is used as a motto in a great many gyms and comes back regularly on the sport's textiles.
Does this blanket work as a gift for a woman who boxes?
The bright pink cuts sharply against the black ground and the lettering reads at a distance. The 150x125 cm / 59x49 in is the most versatile size for a gift, covering a seated adult to the shoulders.
The same world carries on with boxing wall art and the rest of the boxing decoration.
