Mexican boxing has two weekends in the year: Cinco de Mayo and 16 September, independence day. The tradition goes back to Julio César Chávez, who made them his fixtures in Las Vegas in the 1990s; Oscar De La Hoya and then Saúl Álvarez carried it on. Those two dates are why the national flag almost always accompanies the imagery of Mexican champions, as it does on this blanket.
What the visual shows
Plain black ground. At the centre, a red CA monogram in angular letters, set over the outline of Mexican territory drawn in a fine white line. Above it, a row of four white stars and, in bright green, the words NO BOXING NO LIFE. Three active colours on black: red, white, green.

Good to know
Wash cold with dark laundry and no fabric softener: the microfibre keeps its softness and the print its contrast. Low-heat tumble drying brings the loft back after several washes.

Frequently asked questions
What size blanket suits a single bed?
The 200x150 cm / 79x59 in covers a 90 cm / 35 in bed completely and overhangs on both sides; the 150x125 cm / 59x49 in works as a foot-of-bed throw on the same bed. The size guide sets out the match-up.
Why do Mexican boxers fight in May and September?
Those are the Cinco de Mayo and 16 September weekends, Mexico's independence day. Julio César Chávez made them his Las Vegas dates in the 1990s and the tradition has been handed on since.
How do you care for a coloured print?
Cold wash, delicate cycle, no bleach and no softener. The pigments are in the fibre: the red and the green keep their intensity wash after wash.
What does No Boxing No Life mean?
Literally, no boxing no life. The phrase serves as a motto in a great many gyms and comes back regularly on the sport's clothing and textiles.
Is the design printed on both sides?
No, on one side only. The reverse is plain and smooth, so the blanket can be turned over when you want a neutral finish on the sofa.
The same world carries on with boxing wall art and the rest of the boxing decoration.
