Gloves, not a coat of arms
Most sanctioning bodies picked an institutional emblem: a crown, an eagle, a globe. The International Boxing Organization, founded in 1988, went for the tool of the sport itself — a pair of red gloves, ringed by the words International Boxing Organization Championship Boxing.
It is the most directly readable belt of the group: you know what sport it belongs to before reading a single letter.
The belt
Real dark green leather. Round gold centre plate with an engraved laurel wreath, crossed by a black WORLD CHAMPION banner and stamped IBO below. At its centre, a round blue and green medallion carrying the pair of red gloves. Either side, two smooth discs with gold rims, plus a small IBO medallion at each end.
What the photograph will not tell you is the back. It is pale and textured, with a black hook-and-loop band at each end — so it adjusts continuously, with no buckle holes, and can be worn over a jacket as easily as on bare shoulders. Laid out, it runs 127 cm / 50 in at about 2.7 kg / 6 lb.
Technical specifications
Buying tip: continuous hook-and-loop adjustment changes how the belt is used. A buckled belt lies flat or sits on a shoulder; this one also closes round the waist at any size, including over a ring walkout jacket. Choose it if several people will wear it during the same evening.
