Women's boxing headgear

The essentials: white and pink boxing headgear available in two levels of protection on the same reference: an open version at €49, or with a face grille at €59, which closes the front of the face entirely and protects the nose and teeth. PU leather shell, single density padding, open-centre ear protectors that keep your hearing, adjustable crossed straps and a black mesh lining. 2 sizes: S for children and teenagers, L for adults. Free standard delivery.
The face grille sits in front of the nose and mouth: it closes the face opening instead of bordering it, where open headgear protects the cheeks and leaves the nasal axis clear. This reference lets you choose between the two formats — open or grilled — without changing headguard or colourway.
Two versions: open or with a face grille
The open version covers the skull, forehead, ears and cheeks, leaving the eyes, nose and mouth clear. It is the usual training format: good vision, free breathing, quick to put on.
The grille version adds a rigid black structure in front of the face, running from forehead to chin. On standard headgear the nose, mouth and teeth stay exposed; the grille removes that area of vulnerability. It is particularly useful for returning to sparring after a broken nose, for protecting braces, or in disciplines where you train with equipment in play.
Open-centre ear protectors
The pink ear pads are not solid discs: they are padded rings, open at the centre. The roll absorbs side impacts and protects the ear from friction while letting sound through. You keep hearing your coach and the bell, which is not the case with a closed ear protector.
Adjustment and hold
The crown is crossed by white straps that set the seating height, over a black mesh lining that lets the skull breathe. It closes at the rear. The headguard goes on unaided, with no lacing, and is readjusted one-handed between rounds.
Women's headgear, but not only
Let us be clear about what makes this model suitable: it is its size range and its colourway, not a specifically female geometry. If you are a male boxer whose head circumference matches size L and the colourway suits you, the headguard will do exactly the same job. Conversely, a woman whose head circumference goes beyond size L will be better served by a model with a wider size grid.
S or L: how to choose
Two sizes: S, aimed at children and teenagers, and L, aimed at adults. Measure your head circumference with a tape, 2 cm / 0.8 in above the eyebrows and across the widest point at the back of the skull, then check the size guide for the range. A simple check once it is on: turn your head sharply left and right, then tap the forehead and the ears with your fingertips. If the headguard does not shift, the size is right.

Worth knowing: the face grille takes a few sessions to settle into, the time it takes for the eye to work around the bars in the lower field. Choose it when you have a specific reason to close off the nose and teeth; otherwise, the open version keeps the vision entirely clear. The padding is single density: to take shots daily, you need denser foam such as the full face real leather headgear. Neither version is allowed in official competition: sanctioned bouts require approved open face headgear with no grille. It comes in S and L: outside that range, see the full coverage headguard up to XL.

Frequently asked questions
Do women need specific boxing headgear?
What matters is head circumference, not gender. Sizes S and M match the most common circumferences among women boxers and younger athletes, sizes L and XL the wider ones. Headgear described as women's is distinguished in practice by its size range and its colourway, not by a different geometry.
What is a grille on boxing headgear for?
It closes the front of the face and protects the nose, mouth and teeth, areas that stay exposed on standard headgear even with cheek protectors. It is used above all for returning to sparring after a nose injury, for protecting braces, or in training with equipment in play. The eye adapts to it in two or three sessions.
How long does it take to get used to a grille?
Two to three sessions is usually enough: the eye learns to work around the bars in the lower field, much as it does with a spectacle frame. In exchange, the nose, mouth and teeth are closed off. If you do not have that requirement, the open version keeps the vision entirely clear.
Can you hear properly in this headgear?
Yes. The ear protectors are padded rings open at the centre, not solid cups: sound passes through. You hear your coach and the bell while the ear stays protected from impacts and friction.
S or L: which size should I take?
Size S is aimed at children and teenagers, L at adults. Measure your head circumference 2 cm / 0.8 in above the eyebrows and check the size guide for the range. Once it is on, turn your head sharply and tap the forehead and ears: if it does not shift, the size is right.
Is this headgear allowed in competition?
No, neither the open version nor the grille one. Sanctioned amateur boxing bouts require approved open face headgear, with no grille or bar. Both versions are for training and sparring.
