The United States Heavyweight Championship was created in 1975 by Jim Crockett Promotions, a North Carolina outfit inside the NWA. It passed to WCW, then to WWE in 2001 when the company bought its rival out.
It is a secondary title with a very long roll of holders, and the graphic logic of its flag plate has never changed.
The belt
Real black leather, 3 mm thick. Octagonal gold centre plate: WWE logo at the top, a blue star field then red and white stripes running the full width, with the UNITED STATES CHAMPION banner across it. Either side, gold plates with a blue shield and the WWE logo.
What the photograph will not tell you: the back also carries the printed WWE logo and the United States Champion wording, so it presents from either side — useful laid flat on a shelf or folded in a cabinet. Snap-stud rows for fastening, 127 cm / 50 in long, about 2.7 kg / 6 lb.
