On 23 April 2022, Tyson Fury defended his WBC heavyweight title against Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium. The announced crowd of 94,000 was the largest for a boxing match in Europe since 1945.
For the occasion the WBC had a belt made in British colours, known as the Union belt. That is the model reproduced here.
The belt
White leather along the whole strap, with visible topstitching and a gold pin buckle — no snap studs on this model. Round centre plate with the WBC ring of flags and, at its heart, a red cross on white with the WBC letters. Either side, four gold-rimmed medallions carrying red and white Tudor roses.
What the photograph will not tell you: this is the only belt here that closes with a pin buckle through six punched holes, like a garment belt. Adjustment is finer than with studs, but within a set range. 127 cm / 50 in long, about 2.7 kg / 6 lb.
